It all starts with an idea

During my career in extension, I facilitated grazers in SW Qld working together for the first time with government departments to investigate sustainable grazing practices. 

 The program I introduced to the dairy industry in Qld and northern NSW led families to come together for the first time, discuss the future of their business, and make major decisions such as farm business amalgamations and retirement.  

I have championed extension as a profession, facilitating investment in service providers to build their extension capabilities and provide greater services to producers. 

 I led major industry development project evaluations in horticulture, that identified areas for continual improvement for the funding organisation and their delivery partners.  

I have also had the privilege of bringing together Research and Development Corporations, Universities, Govt Depts and Drought and Innovation hubs to jointly fund a project focusing on upskilling extension and R&D service providers in principles and practices to gain greater impact from research. Due to the experience and skills of the service provider, this project is kicking goals in the adoption of innovative approaches to delivering extension, research and development.
