Working together for better results through
extension, research and development.
Who is Jane?
Welcome to Jane Wightman Consulting.
‘From my early years in the UK being introduced to no-till farming practices and new stubble burning and chemical handling protocols, to later on witnessing the first on-farm sexing of dairy cow embryos at a kitchen table in Gippsland, Victoria my career has been shaped by collaboration and innovation. As a young farm manager in New Zealand, attending the local discussion group, I held onto every word my neighbours and the local extension officers shared in best management practices. Transitioning into extension and industry services, after emigrating from the UK to Australia and gaining a Master of Applied Science I have experienced firsthand how research, development, and extension must work together to achieve progress for the ag industry. I believe true success comes from collaboration-when people connect, share knowledge and turn insights into action’.
True success comes from collaboration—when people connect, share knowledge, and turn insights into action.
‘Over the years I have experienced working with highly professional extension practitioners and researchers and been involved in the delivery of programs that have contributed to the success of the industry.
I have noticed growing gaps in extension delivery within agriculture, as well as missed opportunities for dedicated service providers to collaborate in extension, research, and development. This collaboration is essential for delivering impactful services to producers. I believe there is a significant need to enhance extension capabilities and capacities while supporting efforts to better integrate extension, research, and development. Taking a collaborative approach is vital to addressing the complex challenges facing the industry. That is why I founded Jane Wightman Consulting’.
